COLOSSAL IN A NUTSHELL

WHAT IS COLOSSAL?

Colossal was born out of the experiences and lifelong memories we created while camping and exploring throughout these very regions - there are just so many opportunities for adventure! Colossal embodies that spirit of exploration while blending camping with the love of driving 4x4’s in very scenic and remote locations. So to answer that question without the backstory… Colossal is a guided offroad adventure through very remote and scenic areas of British Columbia and Alberta.

IS COLOSSAL FOR ME?

Do you like high speed logging road blitz’s? Tight, steep, switchbacks? Or the casual backcountry drive? The Colossal route encompasses it all. We drive during the day on a wide variety of terrain while trying to maintain an emphasis on getting back to camp at a reasonable hour to relax and enjoy the social element of the trip. Where possible we also try to incorporate some free time - where we can hike to the nearest peak or cast a line in a nearby creek/lake.

Do you have a desire to Tread Lightly, have fun, converse with like minded people, and make the most out of the experience no matter what unforeseeable circumstances may arise?

AM I PROPERLY EQUIPPED FOR THIS ADVENTURE?

There are many aspects to vehicle preparation. Arguably the most important part of vehicle prep is maintenance. Remember, the “remote wilderness” aspect of this trip? We will be far from aid and drastic recoveries may be costly, difficult, and will affect the entire group so please take no shortcuts here. That being said, accidents and random mechanical failures happen on the trail and we will embrace these situations with positivity, diligence, and respect. Please contact us via email prior to registration for any specific questions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

EQUIPMENT

  • FRS radios (inter-group, close range comms.)

  • First Aid kit, Basic Recovery Items (shackles, shovel, gloves, straps)

  • Air up/down equipment (C02 or Air Compressor)

  • 20L of spare fuel

  • Food, beverages, proper clothing and equipment for the duration of the trip (wet & dry). Expect to be away from civilization for duration of journey & temperatures to get close to freezing at night

  • Don’t’ feel obligated to drink, but I am sure some of us will have a bottle of our favorite beverage for those cold nights ;)

PERSONAL & SKILL

  • All driver must possess a basic level of competence in an offroad driving environment - you should know your vehicle and how to use it in both slower technical environments and at a slightly higher speed. We always welcome newcomer’s but this should not be your first time on the trail.

  • Egos and bad attitudes left at home regardless if you are a 25-year vet or a keen newcomer

  • Intermediate level of outdoor experience (wildlife, colder temperatures, remote camping)
