TELLING COMMUNITY STORIES IN UNPRECEDENTED TIMES
Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism (NKLT) is the staple organization that promotes that beauty that is the city of Nelson, British Columbia — our home. The objective was to create a video series that would establish a connection between out-of-town visitors and the local community by sharing personal stories, while also encouraging people to explore their own communities. The aim was to develop evergreen content that could be utilized not only during the Covid-19 pandemic but also in the future.
A NEW WAY TO DEFINE NELSON
While Nelson has long been renowned for its majestic mountains and picturesque lakes, NKLT recognized the need for something something else to explain Our interesting little Place — something to encapsulate the essence of this unique locale. The organization sought a distinct narrative that would truly connect people with Nelson and Area’s culture and community.
OUR PEOPLE
Our concept involved showcasing the essence of Nelson through a series of short films featuring a diverse group of individuals deeply rooted in the community.
The project resulted in a web series of 12 videos and hundreds of photos that encapsulates Nelson and its surrounding areas. “Our Place” is a series of stories about the interesting, adventurous, and beautiful people that are both inspired by and populate The Kootenay Lake Region in British Columbia, Canada.
